WARNING POST - Bucky
Wanted to help share the warning about [info]buckyrabbit. Before you ask, yes he had been given the chance to make up for his crimes - he used that opportunity to continue to lie and escape the situation. So the only option left is to spread the word about him and help minimize his ability to turn anyone else out there into a victim.

To put it bluntly, this guy is a thief and liar. For at least the latter half of this year he's been using a web of lies to gain the hospitality of many people, he's stayed at their homes, he's eaten their food, he's enjoyed their company... and when they're not looking, he's stolen from them. Besides the cash he's taken, which at the minimum runs in the hundreds of dollars, we know for certain that he's stolen and sold off many games and game systems. It's hard to tell what else he might've stolen, upon meeting him you'd find it impossible that someone like him could be so brazenly low but it's true.

I'm rambling at this point so I'll just list what he's done:

1. He is not going to Iraq, that much is clear. If he's told you he's in the National Guard, that appears partly true. But he's either gone AWOL, was never in process of being deployed, or has been discharged from the service. He's used people's sympathy to gain their trust, and then used that trust to get into their homes.
During the recent period of time when he was supposed to be in Germany he was instead in Florida, having bought a ticket after using money from his many thefts. And then recently he showed up again in NY on supposedly a special holiday leave.
Anyone in the Florida area who knows where he stayed may want to check your apartment for anything missing.

2. He is a drug user, and it does appear that he is addicted to cocaine. Someone like this will backstab their closest friends to get another hit. He's shown up to, and gotten kicked out of, more than one party completely blasted out of his own mind.

3. Unconfirmed but likely true: He has put up online ads and they have been responded to, whether he actually went through with it is another story - he's contacted people on the Internet and sold sexual favors for money. Now whether that means he may be carrying something infectious, who knows... but considering the lowlife behavior he has already done, I wouldn't put it past him. If you have had any intimate contact with him or someone he's been with, I suggest you get tested immediately.

He is an active danger and that is why I am making this post. In the last couple days I have contacted some friends to warn them about him and found that at least a couple have heard from him and gotten requests to have him stay over. If you let him into your home he will steal from you, I'm finding it difficult to even believe how many people this guy has betrayed, good people who offered him a place to stay. Yes, it seems true that he was kicked out of his parents house months ago but he deserves no sympathy. Quentin Coyote had put him up in his home rent free for several months back in August, you can read a detailed account of what happened here. And in my own home, my roommates and I allowed him to spend several days over. During that time some games went missing, at least one of those disappeared during a period where only Bucky was over - so he became our chief suspect. After reading Quentin's account recently we had no more doubts as to what happened - and we did get a confession of a sort.

These pictures may not be very recent, but they'll give you an idea of who to look out for:

Bucky, RL name: Charles Bucchioni

Please spread the word so no one else ends up a victim to this scumbag.

I can't stand people like that. I met a new guy last night who looks a bit like the hat and trench coat pic, but he was a dragon. But we'll keep a look out and pass the word about Bucky with NOVA_FUR.

It's very easy to change your identity in furry, most people only know you by your fursona so you really could just come up with about anything and disappear in a group of people who have no history with you. I'm sure after it becomes clear that people in this area know his lies, he's going to find another location and new identity so he can continue to steal.

His real name is Charles Bucchioni, I'll edit the post to include that.

They all look eminently punchable. Definitely da look o de bad-ass dood muddah-fuggah who got that way via listening to bad rap and practicing with nunchuks in front of the mirror (sans shirt of course). Yep, I'm scared, sure am!

No, after a discussion last night with some other people who were his victims we all decided there is zero chance of getting anything back. Gave him the chance to come clean and he made it clear that he was going to use that opportunity to make a run for it, so... putting out the info on him and hopefully help make it very difficult for him to find anyone else to victimize.

I've seen enough military IDs lately to say that his looks real. It's what's known as a CAC (Common Access Card) ID. It could be National Guard, I'm not sure.

Being active military, the CAC card looks pretty authentic to me, but of course I can't see the hologram in the picture or the back. But the rest of it is right. Looks like it expires October 2009 as well, so that would indicate a possibility of desertion or at least AWOL.

Oh, I'm an LJ friend of Quentin too. (I'm sure you're wondering)

I know someone who can make very convincing CAC's near my home towns army base. Enough to convince the civilians outside a base but which would never work on an actual base. It isn't hard to believe there are other people who can do that and that Bucky could get one.

Or, if it IS real, he washed out and managed to KEEP his card (which is what I did, back in 1990).

I had a friend who let him into his house for awhile. He and his mom fed Bucky and let him stay for free. He ended up breaking things, stealing from him mom (who at the time was recovering from surgery!), and lying about everything. He was also tying his best to get my friend in bed with him too, but luckily I don't think that ever happened. c.c

Bad news, this one.

if he has gone awol, wouldn't it be prudent to report his last location to the armed forces for disciplinary action? i mean, they take things like that VERY seriously, could get him some jailtime if i recall correctly.

Whether he's awol or not is being looked into. If he is, we're going to get in contact with the appropriate people and make sure it's reported. At the moment also, he's very mobile and actually the decision to make this post and others warning people was because we had good reason to believe he was going to disappear.

He could have so many people just give him things and help him out, but he squanders it.
Horrible.

It's so much more than that though, it's not that he did something stupid and people are going to avoid him - he cut people to the core with his actions. It's just, unforgivable.

Yes, it's very possible his drug addictions turned him this way and maybe before he got addicting to cocaine and other drugs he was someone you could trust. But then you have to ask yourself... how do people do this to others? How do you start down this path? How do you take the kindness to get invited into someones home when you have nowhere else to go, given food, and shelter, and company... and then turn around and stab that person in the back; and it's not one poor judgment call, he's done this to who knows how many people at this point. He is continuing to do this, as I mentioned in my post he's still looking for victims.

He cannot be considered some lost soul that wandered down this path by accident and through no fault of his own, it was his decisions and actions that got him to where he is now. He may eventually turn his life around, but he burned all the bridges of those who were willing to help and now he must make the difficult journey on his own. People tried to help, they got burned pretty badly, to think the next person may be the one to finally get him to see the light and turn his life around is utterly foolish and naive.
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

Oh, I remember the "Don't forget your Internet!" guy. I'm not too familiar about what he did but know well enough that's he someone not to be trusted.

I mentioned it to someone else in another post, the real problem with warning people in furry is that if they're not personally acquainted with someone they seem more often than not to have one of two kneejerk reactions. Either they believe everything bad about the person, whether it be the most hardened fact or outrageous rumor, and they're willing to speak about the person as if they know what they're talking about; or... they don't believe a word about what's being said and those must be people with personal unwarranted grudges saying those things and even if the person is guilty it's not their fault or they had a traumatic experience or only I can save this person with showing them the right kind of kindness no other was able to provide before. So... for people that had to go through being isolated or bullied in their childhoods (and many of us in the fandom did go through such experiences), not to mention many false or made up warnings, so it's difficult to really believe someone could be so low - not to mention if they're good at charming or giving attention, we so want to believe the lies over the harsh truths.

*six weeks later*
"CRY CRY THEY STOLE ALL MY STUFF I SHOULD HAVE BELIEVED YOU GUYS!"

I have no pity at all.
There are some folks who are that low. Unfortunately theres more than one or two now in furry when they used to be very well known for their horrible behaviors.

Cat called me up a few hours and told me what happened; I've been at work all week working long hours so haven't been very reachable or keeping an eye on livejournal too closely.

Needless to say, what was mere annoyance and a bit of anger has turned into utter hatred for this guy. What he's done is unbelievable. It was terrible to hear of how he'd treated Quentin and others, but then for him to turn around and... whether be for vengeance or a quick buck, the guy is total slime. If he really is AWOL, I hope they put him away for the next twenty years... :(

What a terrible thing to happen to you and your friends, I hope he falls off a ladder.

Still letting a stranger come live with you? YIKES.
